Hi! I’m a minister, theologian, and church historian leveraging advanced academic training and extensive pastoral experience to point you to Christ and challenge you in your Christian walk. My prime focus is writing, expository preaching, and Bible-focused teaching. I’m driven by a kingdom orientation and a desire that God’s name be made glorious to me and through me.

I grew up in Yazoo City, MS. I graduated with a B.S. in electrical engineering from Mississippi State University, then got married and began work for Louisiana Power and Light Co. in New Orleans.

After a couple of years, I left to go to Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, MS. And after graduation I served 2 PCA pastorates in Alabama. By this time we had 3 sons who we moved to the Philadelphia, PA area for me to work on a PhD at Westminster Theological Seminary.

During the time it took to complete that degree, I pastored another PCA church in Fairton, New Jersey. Then, to finish the dissertation, I moved to Clemson, SC because I wouldn’t have finished by my deadline if I had stayed as pastor of that church.

After receiving the degree, I did some adjunct teaching at Erskine Theological Seminary, and Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary and taught a course as a visiting lecturer at RTS, Charlotte. I also started Covenant Hall, a Christian study center aimed at Clemson undergrads, grad students, and faculty. But I didn’t know how to raise funds and had to shut it down after a couple of years.

From there, we moved to the Austin, TX area for me to pastor Providence Presbyterian Church (OPC), where I remained until 2015. After losing my precious wife in 2012 and resigning from the pastorate at Providence after 15 years, I continue to attend there, and to preach and teach as opportunity presents, and have begun to write.

All three sons are Christians and married to wonderful Christian wives. I have eight grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. They all live in the Southeast; so I travel frequently.
